Applying for Membership

The RMCQ is a not-for-profit community club. If you are interested in joining, you are welcome to visit us on most Wednesdays & Saturdays (9:30am-1:00pm). No bookings are necessary. Contact us if you would like to visit at another time. We will show you around and you can meet a few of the members. Applicants are normally required to visit three times before their membership application is accepted by the Committee, but this is not required if you want to be an Associate member or live a long distance from the club.

Membership categories

  • Ordinary. This is the normal adult membership category, with all the usual rights and privileges of membership including the right to vote.
  • Senior. Members who have attained the age of 70 years pay reduced fees with the same benefits as Ordinary members.
  • Country. Members who reside at a distance greater than 75 km in a straight line from the clubrooms pay reduced fees and have the same rights as Ordinary members.
  • Associate. These members have a much lower fee. They may not use the layouts or workshops, may not vote, and may not be on the committee, but are welcome to use the other club facilities and have access to the members-only website. There is a broad range of reasons why people choose to join as associate members, for example:
    (1) People who live a long distance from the club.
    (2) People with medical issues.
    (3) Older modellers who have sold their kit but like to have a coffee, watch trains and socialise.
    (4) Local community members who have a relationship with the club and want to maintain contact and socialise.
    (5) People who want access to the members-only website.
  • Family. We no longer have family memberships. The spouse, and (under 18) children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of all members have the same privileges as the main member, but do not receive a free shirt and name plate, and may not vote. As children turn eighteen, they are to apply for their own membership.

Cost of Membership

See the membership application for the current annual fees and joining fee. The joining fee includes a club shirt and name tag for the main member only.

Lockers

Members who want to leave things at the clubrooms may hire a lockable locker for $10 per annum.

Obligations of Membership

All members are required to comply with our Rules of Association and Bylaws…...

Within their physical capacity, they are also expected to contribute to maintenance of the club buildings and grounds, occasional working bees and fund-raising activities. This includes a 15 minute cleaning session at the club at 10 AM every Saturday morning. Many hands make light work.

COVIDSafe practices are in place and are updated when government restrictions change.
