N Scale Exhibition Layout
PINE RIVERS is an N Scale modular layout, loosely based on NTRAK standards, presented by the Railway Modeller’s Club of Queensland Inc. The layout is continually evolving, and this year features a point-to-point tourist railway operated automatically using a DCC shuttle system from the United Kingdom.
The visiting circus is still in town—listen for the music drifting from the Big Top. The sporting complex, catering for tennis, swimming, and basketball, has been upgraded, adding to the activity within the scene. A fully DCC-controlled industrial area has also been developed, supporting the existing wheat loading silos and light industries with regular rail services. Points in this precinct are operated by slow-motion servos, all controlled directly from DCC throttles.
The housing estate continues to expand and is steadily approaching occupation, while the entire layout is framed by the dramatic Canyon River scene and its township. Following recent heavy rains, the rapids are in full flow, with white water surging over the rocky river bed. In response to the town’s growth, the local council has enhanced safety by installing new street lighting throughout the township.
