RMCQ 2021 Expo is cancelled
Regretfully, we have had to cancel our 2021 Expo that was scheduled for 14-15 August 2021. It was a difficult decision, but we were left with no other practical option. First and foremost, we would like to apologise sincerely to our exhibitors, traders, the public and our club members for any inconvenience that this will cause. We know you were all looking forward to the event, as we were.
The hall capacity issue was the showstopper. Currently the council will only allow 135 people to be inside the two halls at any one time, including exhibitors, traders, patrons and club members. This equates to one person per 6-7 m2, which is far more restrictive than the Qld Health general limits. Although this figure might increase somewhat if the current Covid issues ease, inevitably there would be long queues of upset patrons outside of the venue. Nor could the club easily absorb an increased financial loss should the show be cancelled at shorter notice due to Covid.
We will do our absolute best to put on another Expo for you next year in early-mid August 2022, even if that means locating a different venue.
Our next event will be our Open Day and Buy & Sell on Sunday 7 November 2021. This is open to the public and will follow our usual format.
Once again, apologies to all those affected by the decision, and we look forward to seeing you all at our 2022 Expo.
Barry Petersen, President
