Rio Tinto's autonomous train makes first solo pit-to-port delivery

Rio Tinto's billion dollar driverless train project has completed its first pit-to-port iron ore delivery in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, operating autonomously over a 280km distance.
Sydney Metro has completed a major test of what will be Australia’s first driverless passenger trains.

Rio Rinto has now received approval to autonomously run trains across its Pilbara rail network.
I wonder whether the future will see the cabs in the locos with a Wall-E type driver or perhaps will it be a HAL 9000 ?

The Engine Driver Android app has started an open Beta Test program.
If you are interested in trying out the latest versions on Engine Driver before everyone else, and are prepared to risk a few bugs in the app, you can now sign up as a beta tester.

The new version of Engine Driver has been released. If you connect your phone to a network with internet access it should automatically download the new version from the Play Store.
