Sydney’s driverless metro train has completed its first full test run along the Metro Northwest corridor, arriving at Chatswood station early on Monday afternoon. So that means that services on track to begin in the econd quarter of this year.

Looks like the remote control for the Tasmanian driverless train, that pranged at the end of September down on the apple isle, was busted.

Diesel trains can be fitted with Rolls-Royce Hybrid PowerPacks to turn them into hybrid trains that can also run on battery power, reducing carbon emissions and making them cheaper to run for operators while also making them much quieter when, for example, they approach stations.

This latest version of the tool, maps the paths of the trains to the classic London Underground map designed by Harry Beck in 1931. The original version of this moving map, created by Matthew Somerville as part of a science hackathon in 2010, is a geographic representation of theLondon Underground, overlaying the trains' real-world paths over a map of London.
